Houseguests, I wish it did not have to come to this, but I see no way out of it. My real life persona is becoming very complicated. My aunt died yesterday morning, I have been moving for the past week, I am starting my senior year of college, and I have a lot on my mind right now. I do not have the time needed to devote to the completion of this game. If you know someone who might want to finish the game (who is not already a member of the game), please let me know and I will give them the password to complete the game. I apologize for the inconvenience I have caused you.

I lied. Ok, I didn't lie, but I've had a conflict and will have to start the HOH competition precisely at 7:00 P.M. EDT tonight. The earlier you can be present at this competition, the higher your chances of winning will be.

Houseguests, I would like to let you know in advance that the HOH competition will begin immediately after the eviction ceremony tonight, which is at 6:00 P.M. EDT.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I will be unavailable tomorrow morning at the time I had originally scheduled to reveal the new HOH. As a result, the HOH results will be posted tomorrow evening unless everyone has submitted their answers by 7:00 A.M. EDT tomorrow morning.

Let me clear some things up:

I am not taking sides. I am trying to run a very fair game here. Some of you think that getting rid of the tagging scene was unfair. When in fact, the tagging scene would have added nothing to your score. Almost everyone would have had points taken away from them if the scene had been kept due to incomplete sentences alone. I cannot understand why you feel it was unfair when you ended up with more points than you would have before. And even if the tagging scene had remained the same, I feel pretty certain that the results would have been the same as they are now.

I know many of you are disappointed in my competitions. I'm sorry you feel that way. If you think you can do a better job, then you can have it. I'm trying to run a fair, fun, competitive game for everyone while still working, taking classes, and trying to have a decent social life of my own. It's not easy. I've never done this before, and it's hard to think through all the loopholes.

Until someone else is willing to take over as host, I will try my hardest to make the competitions as fair as possible. That's the best I can promise you.

As this is the first game I've ever hosted, I am bound to make some bad decisions. I made one with last week's veto game, and it turns out I made it with this one as well.

If you haven't realized, I've been trying to create the competitions based on the previous week's competition on the real show. "Constant Vigilance" was based on the Mad Hatter game, where the person who stood with the glass the longest won. This was an endurance competition, and basically the only way to have an endurance competition on LJ is to have people do something repetitive, like sending emails or comments.

But the other part of the competition was the distraction from the other houseguests, which is where the tagging scene came in. Unfortunately, that was where my mistake lay. I wanted things to be fair, and I wanted a nice clean game. That was not possible. And I'm not going to go through each and every comment to find out who said what to whom.

There is only one fair way to solve this problem. I'm sorry, houseguests, but the tagging scene is now closed. The winner of the Power of Veto will be the person who comments the most on his or her private entry. Because of this change, the competition will end tomorrow morning at 6:00 A.M. EDT.

New rule

As the all-powerful Julie Chen, I am invoking a new rule to this game:

Anyone who is seen as "inactive" in three consecutive eviction cycles will be expelled from the game. Inactivity is defined as lack of participation in tagging scenes or not voting for evictions.

EDIT: Tallying up the participation levels, the following people are on probation.

Dustin and Mike, you have been inactive in tagging scenes for a week. If in two weeks, you have not participated in tagging scenes and have not been evicted, you will be expelled. If you already know you will not be participating, please email me at juliebbrpg@gmail.com so I can go ahead and expel the character.

Zach, if there is a Zach, you have been completely inactive in both tagging scenes and eviction ceremonies for two weeks. If you have not participated in tagging scenes AND voted in next week's eviction ceremony, and have not been evicted, you will be expelled.

Food comp

Hello Houseguests. I just wanted to make a comment about the food competition. I believe some of you are forgetting part of the rules:

There must be a minimum of 3 foods of a letter before another chain can be started. There is no limit on how many times you post per chain. One person may comment a thousand times per chain if he or she wishes to.

This is not like the last competition - you do not have to wait for someone else to post. In theory, one person could win the entire competition for everyone on the team.

Someone has voiced some confusion at the Head of Household Competition, and I just wanted to clear it up. You are answering the questions the way you think the majority of the house will answer the questions. If you need a comparison, see the second Head of Household Competition in this year's actual Big Brother 8 show.

If you ever have any questions, email me at juliebbrpg@gmail.com and I will clear them up as soon as I can.

Reminders and Information

Hello Houseguests! I am pleased to say that we have a full cast! I'd like to give you some last-minute information and reminders.

You need to join the four communities associated with this game before Thursday. They are [info]bbrpg_main, [info]bb_rpg_compete, [info]bb_rpg_diary, and [info]bb_rpg_hoh. You will not be able to participate in the competitions until you do.

Remember to add your houseguests to your friends list.

EDIT: Since AIM seems to be a popular tool this year, I've created an AIM sn: juliebbrpg.

I will be updating a power grid throughout the season, and I will gladly share it with you! Feel free to put it in your profile. It can also always be found on my profile.

And last: at any time during the game where you need to go on a hiatus, your character will remain in the background. It will have "immunity" during nominations. However, to insure that the "immunity" is not taken advantage of, your character will only have immunity for one eviction cycle throughout the game. If you need to take a hiatus, please make a post in [info]bb_rpg_diary to let us know.

Good luck Houseguests! The next post you will see will be your entrance into the Big Brother 8 house!

Welcome!

Welcome Houseguests! I am very excited to be hosting this season of Big Brother RPG. I would first like to encourage you to invite people to join this game. I would love to have all 14 houseguests in this role-play game.

All houseguests may enter the house on Thursday, July 12. The first Head of Household Competition will begin Thursday evening at 7:00 P.M. EDT.

I would like to remind you of some things to take care of while you are waiting to enter the house:
Feel free to make an intro post in [info]bbrpg_main. Keep in mind that tagging scenes must wait until Thursday.
Don't forget to add your fellow houseguests, the four communities, and your lovely host to your friends list.
If you are interested, you may work on your layout and icons.

Thank you for joining this year's RPG, and I look forward to seeing you on Thursday!

Rules

Welcome To Big Brother 8 RPG!

This is a Big Brother Role Playing Community

Rules

1. To join the community, create a livejournal username of a houseguest from Big Brother 8. Please also create an email address for your houseguest that will be used so you can discuss alliances/storylines OOC. You may also create an instant messenger screenname to communicate with the other houseguests more freely, if you wish.

2. This RPG does not have to reflect the current show, such as storylines and alliances. For example, Daniele does not have to be Dick's daughter, Joe and Dustin do not have to be enemies, etc. The only aspects that need to remain the same is the characters' personalities and that there will be HOH, Veto, and food/luxury competitions, evictions, etc.

3. Drama in character is allowed as it does happen a lot on the real show, but please no drama OOC.

Below is a list of the communities that you are required to join once a member and a description of what its purpose is:
*[info]bbrpg_main: This is the main community. When you join, please make an intro post letting everyone know you are here. This community will also serve to hold the veto and eviction ceremonies. Lastly, this is where you can communicate with other houseguests in tagging scenes (except for when talking to the HOH, that must be done in the HOH room). If you are unfamiliar with tagging scenes, an example can be found in this community.
*[info]bb_rpg_hoh: This is the HOH room. This is where you communicate with the HOH in tagging scenes. The current HOH is expected to post the nomination ceremony in here.
*[info]bb_rpg_diary: This is the OOC community. In here you can talk about the real show, ask if anyone is around to do a tagging scene, or let us know of any upcoming hiatus.
*[info]bb_rpg_compete: This community is where the competitions will be held and the results will be posted.

Schedule
Since it is difficult for all of us to be online at the same time when each competition is going on, I've created a schedule to follow by. This schedule follows the actual schedule of a typical Big Brother house, has fewer competitions during the week to allow time for work and school, and allows more free time for scenes and for catching up if the game starts to run behind schedule.

Thursday night: HOH competition
Friday morning: Food competition
Friday night: Food competition results
Saturday morning: HOH competition results
Saturday to Sunday: Nomination ceremony
Sunday night: Veto competition
Monday night: Veto competition results
Tuesday: Veto ceremony and voting begins
Wednesday: Luxury competition occasionally
Thursday night: Eviction ceremony and HOH competition

The aim of this RPG is to have all active players. Please do not join if you cannot agree to check the communities everyday and to participate in tagging scenes. Anyone who is seen as "inactive" in three consecutive eviction cycles will be expelled from the game. Inactivity is defined as lack of participation in tagging scenes or not voting for evictions.

Applications will be accepted starting today! Tentatively, the game will be played from July 12 to September 30, although twists may speed the game along. There will be room for up to 14 houseguests in the Big Brother RPG house. To apply, go to the application page and please put "Give me my key" in the subject line so that I know you have read the rules.

Taken
Below is a list of the houseguests. If there is a username next to that houseguest or the houseguest has already been claimed on the application page, it means they are taken. If there is not, they are up for grabs.
